House of Harrold began with a moment that caught me completely off guard.

Harry — not quite as small as he once was — had grown from the 4 kg furball I brought home into a confident, powerful Golden Retriever. One day, while we were casually standing by the side of the road, he suddenly lunged forward full of excitement.

As Harry moved through adolescence, walks often felt unpredictable. Like many young dogs, his confidence, curiosity and energy were growing faster than his impulse control.

There were many moments where I didn’t feel entirely comfortable or confident walking him alone. He was simply stronger than me — and excitement, distractions and hormones did the rest.
