About House of Harrold

House of Harrold began with a moment that caught me completely off guard.

Harry — not quite as small as he once was — had grown from the 4 kg furball I brought home into a confident, powerful Golden Retriever. One day, while we were casually standing by the side of the road, he suddenly lunged forward with full excitement.

Before I knew it, we had crossed the road and ended up at the beach. Luckily safe — but definitely not safely.

Harry loves the sea, and in that moment his excitement took over… and took me with him.

That was the moment I realised something important:
I was no longer stronger than my dog.

The Reality of Adolescence

As Harry moved through adolescence, walks often felt unpredictable. Like many young dogs, his confidence, curiosity and energy were growing faster than his impulse control.

There were many moments where I didn’t feel entirely comfortable or confident walking him alone. He was simply stronger than me — and excitement, distractions and hormones did the rest.

Anyone who has lived with a young dog knows the phase. It’s a rollercoaster of progress, setbacks, learning and patience.

And yet most of the equipment available felt like it belonged to one of two extremes — either overly harsh training tools, or basic everyday products that didn’t offer enough control for real-life situations.

Looking for Something Better

Along the way, I tried many different leads, harnesses and training tools.

But I couldn’t find anything that truly worked for real life: something functional and practical, while still feeling well designed, comfortable and thoughtfully made.

Something that offered calm, confident control without relying on force.

This search eventually led to the development of NoStorm, designed to guide a dog’s attention rather than rely purely on strength.

So the idea began to form: what if dog gear could be designed differently?

Designing for Better Walks

Four years later, that idea has grown into House of Harrold.

A small brand built around one simple goal: to create dog gear that helps owners feel calm, confident and in control — even when their dog is stronger than they are.

With a background in the fashion industry, thoughtful design, materials and craftsmanship have always been important to me. This perspective continues to shape how every House of Harrold product is developed — balancing function, comfort and aesthetics for everyday walks.

Because dog gear should work well, feel good to use, and fit naturally into everyday life.
