About House of Harrold
Our Story
House of Harrold began with a moment that caught me completely off guard.
Harry — not quite as small as he once was — had grown from the 4 kg furball I brought home into a confident, powerful Golden Retriever. One day, while we were standing casually by the side of the road, he suddenly lunged forward with full excitement.
Before I knew it, we had crossed the road and ended up at the beach. Luckily we were safe — but it certainly didn’t feel safe at the time.
Harry loves the sea, and in that moment his excitement took over… and took me with him.
That was the moment I realised something important: I was no longer stronger than my dog.
The Reality of Walking a Strong Dog
As Harry moved through adolescence, walks often felt unpredictable. Like many young dogs, his confidence, curiosity and energy were growing faster than his impulse control.
There were moments where I didn’t feel entirely comfortable walking him alone. He was simply stronger than me — and when excitement took over, the leash sometimes felt like the only thing preventing chaos.
Many dog owners experience the same phase. A puppy that once followed naturally suddenly pulls forward with determination, driven by curiosity, instinct and growing strength.
That’s when I began searching for equipment that could make walks feel calmer, safer and easier to manage.
Looking for Something Better
Along the way, I tried many different leads, harnesses and training solutions. Some were uncomfortable for the dog. Others relied heavily on physical strength. Many simply didn’t feel designed for real life.
I was looking for something different — equipment that worked in everyday situations while still feeling thoughtfully designed, comfortable and durable.
Something that supported calm communication rather than constant resistance.
